Mini Review: Aveeno Postitively Radient Deep Cleansing Pads

6 Jan

Happy Monday.  Back to a full work schedule till I have a day off on 20 Jan. That three day weekend can’t come quick enough.

I wanted to share my reactions to the Aveeno Cleansing Pads I purchased the other day from Rite Aid.  The pads are the size of the bottom of a mug. They have two sides, one is soft for the sensitive areas around your eyes and lips, the other an exfoliant side.

I really enjoyed this product. It’s already wet and ready to later up on your damp face. I couldn’t believe everything that it picked up, considering I hadn’t put on make up for a bit over a whole day.  The exfoliant side isn’t super abrasive but enough that you can tell it’s doing what it’s suppose to.  The scent is very light and it suds up very nicely.

Once washed off my skin looked a litte red since I did a nice scrub on it. Once it settled down it was so soft and radient looking. I’m excited to say this is a good review and would highly recommend this for anyone. It cleared my my little dry patch that likes to settle right between my eybrows.  It cost me $8.

Deep Steep Grapefruit and Bergamot Bubble Bath

3 Jan

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is looking to a fun and awesome weekend, also a relaxing one.

This is how I relax….with a nice bath. My boyfriend bought me a smorgasbord of bath items, and Deep Steep Bubble Bath was one of them. He wanted to get me another option so I could stretch out my Lush Bath Bombs.  I wasn’t sure about the grapefruit, but he knew I love anything bergamot, so he know it was a winner.

Let me tell you how much I love this product!  Bergamot has a nice deep scent and the grapefruit gives a little tang to the smell so it’s relaxing and invigorating to your senses.  But the bubbles…oh my goodness the bubbles. I have never had a bubble bath that the bubbles were so luscious and over abundant with just a few drops of it.  I was in the tub for an hour and the bubbles didn’t even dissipate.  I was really impressed by that.

Here is another plus side to this product: It’s cruelty free.  But wait, there is more!  It’s vegan, gluten free, no parabens, no sulfate, mineral oils or artificial fragrances. It’s an all natural product, which the company prides themselves on.

If your interested here is the list of ingredients:

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Infusion of Organic Herbs; Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Coco Glucoside, Glycerin (Vegan), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Aroma (Organic and Wildcrafted Aroma Blend), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Caprylic Acid (Coconut Fatty Acid), Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Natural, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid.

Sephora Mega Haul!

5 Nov

For those that have been following me for awhile you know that I love Sephora.  I pretty much live on their online site honestly.  My nearest store is about 10 minutes away, but it’s a small JCPenny one. The next large stand alone one is about 45 minutes away that I don’t get to to often.  I’m always looking at their sales and see what is new so I can add it to my wish list.  So since it was my birthday two weeks ago, I received some cash and a Sephora gift card from a coworker who knows me. I went a little crazy on my girls trip to there and here are a few goodies I got.

Since I am into lipsticks lately this was my first pick which was their small Give Me Some Lip gift set. I love the lazer  cut cover.  I thought $25 was  steal especially since the Sugar is $22 full sized. Here is the inside (sorry for the darkish pictures I took them on my phone because my camera battery died)

How cute is that?  It’s basically nudes and a few pinkish colors which is great. I’ll be doing a full review later!

Urban Decay makes the best eyeshadow primer, this one is in Greed (a gold color) .  I normally buy it in Sin, but this one was on sale half price for $10 and I couldn’t pass it up!

I finally got my Urban Decay Revolutionary Lip Color in F-Bomb which not only do I love the name, but the color is a fantastic red.  It’s bold just like dropping an F-Bomb.  This is $22 regular price, I haven’t seen any sales or specials on this yet but either way you should invest in one of these because it keeps your lips moisturized.

This was a freebie BB Cream by Bobbi Brown in fair.  I thought this was a great freebie not to pass up even thou I have like 5 small sample tubes of these kind of creams. A full tube is $44, and honestly I would never buy a BB Cream for that price when I know they have some great one 75% cheaper.

Sorry for the side picture, my phone was going crazy and I didn’t feel like messing with it. So another amazing lip stick gift set comes from Buxom with their Serial Kisser. This retails for $32 and has 5 lips sticks with great Buxom names (. Menace, Provocateur, Mistress, Centerfold, Moonlighter)

I love the velvet book, and lace details.  The book is exceptionally nice because it has a magnet to keep it closed.  I haven’t used them yet, but be on the look out for a review!

Ok my hand looks creepy in this picture.  I’ve been wanting to get one of the Naked Palette from Urban Decay but I have several colors from them already that I can’t even bring myself to get it.  Sephora came out with their own nude palette for $32 and I was really taken by their colors.  What I really like is that it comes with an eyeliner and a double ended brush.

I’ll be doing a few looks this week and do a nice little review that has all the colors. I have another palette by them that I love.

I have two more items that I’m waiting on. One I just ordered and one I am waiting till that 20% coupon starts at the end of the week that I’m going to use it with. Here is a sneak peak.

What I ordered and am waiting on

This is the Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection Limited Edition Promiscuous Lip Pencil Coffret for NARS  I am a NARS addict and the case is going to be amazing to have. I splurged on this for $45 but I haven’t seen it in a store, and so because it was limited I decided to bite the bullet and buy it now.  Here is the description on the site

What it is:
A limited-edition set of NARS Jumbo Lip Pencils inspired by legendary fashion photographer Guy Bourdin.

What it does:
Combine the convenience of a pencil with the application of a lipstick in five bestselling shades. François Nars enters the cinematic realm of lust, glamour, and innuendo exposed in Guy Bourdin’s evocative editorials with five provocative possibilities for lips. Carry it all in the included keepsake zippered cosmetics bag decked out with a pair of electric blue lips.

This set contains:
– 0.06 oz x 4 Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, Sex Machine, Never Say Never, Dolce Vita
– 0.08 oz Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover
– Keepsake cosmetics bag

What else you need to know:
Guy Bourdin’s spellbinding and cinematic narratives served as the apex of the sexually charged fashion photography of the ’70s—and François Nars’ first inspiration to become a makeup artist. Now, NARS celebrates Bourdin’s legacy with bold, uninhibited color and high-impact finishes inspired by the audacious, high-fashion, and decadent world of Guy Bourdin.

Finally with my 20% this is what I’m going to get, and this will be the last of my Sephora run for awhile since it’s time to start Christmas shopping
Kat Von D Spellbinding Eyeshadow book.  Now I saw this in the store but they sold out of it, I have some of her shape shifting shadows and the book said you can get the same effect with pairing up these colors. As you can see they have some examples on the inside of the book.  This one is $55, but for what you get, it’s worth it, it says it’s $108 value.
Here is the online description
What it is:
A mesmerizing 24-pan eye shadow book of rich, spellbinding shades that harmoniously pair to create endless looks.

What it does:
Each set of shades can be paired together to create perfectly layered looks reminiscent of old school shade-shifters. The shadows glide on effortlessly to blend and layer seamlessly. Each of the rich, creamy colors is formulated with a high-pigment load for incredible payoff with just one swipe. Experience incredibly long-lasting crease-free color with shades won’t budge or flake—this is the same great formula that Kat Von D is known for. Together, they’re the perfect mix of neutral shades and bold pops of color in a beautiful box featuring Kat’s original artwork. This palette is the perfect gift for any makeup lover or yourself.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens

What else you need to know:
These potent shadows are infused with rose extract to keep the skin around eyes hydrated.

There you go, I went a little Sephora crazy!  Have you all bought anything from there lately or anything I purchased?

Covergirl’s Capitol Collect for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

21 Sep

ku-bigpic2-580x432 ku-xlarge-1-580x429

A month or so ago I learned that Covergirl was going to expand their Hunger Games line for Catching Fire. The last movie had only nail polish, this one will be expanding to pretty much anything make up wise.  Which I am excited. I haven’t heard anything recently on it so I went and looked to see when it was going to debut.  It seems that some have been popping up in Europe right now and the US release date is going to be sometime in Oct.

I’m pretty amazed on what they are doing with their make up line. They have done a whole couture look for each district. The above pictures are District 1 (Luxury) and 4 (Fishing Industry).  The below is a display that had popped up somewhere in Europe and District 12 (Coal Mining).  I can’t wait. I’m going to have to own something of this line.

Are any of you all excited for this line? Have you seen it in any stores near you?

Fine Hair Problems.

15 Sep

I really wish I was born with a crazy head of hair so I can fluff it out like the girl in the picture above.  Unfortunately I was graced with very baby fine hair that will always been the bane of my existence.  Sure I was very blessed in other features, but something about fine hair is a big hassle. Firstly, you run into the problem of the constant scalp exposure (and sun burn if you don’t wear a hat or use the proper sunscreen spray) which can make you look like your also balding when your not.  Then you have to make sure you always fix it in some way or it ends up laying flat and with no life to it.  Lastly you can’t go super long with it since it the ends will look like you stuck your finger in a socket and you just look crazy.

vintage_cartoon_woman_pulling_her_hair_out_royalty_free_clipart_picture_091211-150272-847042-scaled530What I feel like most of the time with my hair

pepnpeach 015An example of how a part can show how fine my hair is.

About 6 years ago I finally found the important thing a girl can have:  a proper hair stylist who knows how to work with fine hair.  She showed me the way of how I can turn my limp locks into something that resembles volume. The best part:  Little to no work involved on my end!!!  As someone who gets up at 6am for work this was an amazing step.  To this day  I have stuck with my lovely stylist and have continued to experiment with color and styling to make sure my locks are lushes at all time.  She even let me go a natural shampoo route since it’s done amazing things for my hair!

So if you have this problem as well as I do, here are a few styling products that I use to help make it luscious:

Chagrin Valley Soaps: Coconut Milk Natural Shampoo Bar

I found a mom and pop all natural store that ships from Ohio.  They have the most amazing products.  Mainly for this shampoo.  It was weird to use a shampoo bar at first but I really love it better then liquid shampoo.  It also is easier to take with you on a trip and takes us less space in the shower, and is vegan free.  The site description says that it gives silkiness, softness and shine to your hair and helps with frizzies.  Which is all true.  My hair instantly became so much healthier that it added volume and grew faster.

You can purchase a 1.5 oz sample bar for $2.50 and it will last over a month, for ever day use. Make sure that it won’t be in the line of the shower spray because it will make it melt faster. A whole bar 7 oz is $7.75 and last a good 6 months. I cut mine and half and after 3 months I’m about to use the other one.

Redken Aerate 08 Bodifying Cream-Mousse

I rarely use any other hair product other than some hairspray.  A couple years ago I started using this product from Redken and it is fabulous! It goes beyond a root booster and boost your whole hair up and and doesn’t leave it crispy and straw like when it dries. You just apply a small dime amount of the solid mousse to damp hair and blow dry out.  A round brush is the best to give extra volume.  I think it was about $12 when I purchased it and it’s last for a few years now, since I don’t use it a lot.

indexBig Head Hard Head Hairspray

This is perhaps the best hairspray I have ever used.  My hair is never straw and brittle like some can do. All I have to do is spray a bit on the roots and a few sprays underneath and wow the volume! In fact I recommend this hairspray for all types of hair if you wan that extra volume. You can find this at most retailers now like Target and Walmart for around $12.  Every once and awhile you can find a double pack at JCPennys or Hair Cuttery for really cheap. I don’t use this every day so this last me a few months.

As you can see I don’t use a lot for my hair.  It’s all about keeping it healthy and not doing a lot of damage (even thou I color my hair a lot, but oddly the chemicals in that make it fuller) and frying your hair with a lot of products.  Remember love and nourish your hair like you do your body and it will love you back by looking fabulous!

A Few Of My Favorite Things: Fall Edition

11 Sep

My favorite season is almost upon us.  I’m talking about fall. I love this change from the summer to fall, especially all the colors that nature gives us.  The one thing living in Virginia is that we have a small window for fall, unless I go to the mountain area a few hours away then it last a little bit longer.  I’ve started to notice that some trees has spots of leaves changing to bright reds and oranges. As much as I hated this rainy summer and I do believe that it will pay off with nature, which is another reason why I can’t wait till I can get up to Monticello and see the beauty.

So with this excitement I decided with fall coming I would share some of my few favorite things about the seasons.

167 is straight from Best Scans files 167A = + 10 Red

Fall colors.  This is my most favorite of the season (and speaking of Monticello in the fall!)

Scarves!!  Guys I have an addiction. I get a few new scarves every season. I make sure they are unique and hard to find so no one can copy me!  It’s a good conversation starter too.

The smell of wood burning and fire places.  Our new apartment came with a fire place and we are kind of on the country side so I get to have both. But there is nothing better than the smell of burning wood on a cool crisp day.

Getting to wear my favorite outfit combo of an oversized sweater and leggings! You cannot get more comfortable with this. Add tall boots on and your set!

Apple Cider and Hot Chocolate. We have a great mountain top orchard that makes some great apple cider. Then if you head in the other direction to Williamsburg they have an olde towne hot chocolate that was drank more like a tea. Either way their both delicious. Sorry pumpkin spice apples and chocolate win every time.

Fall Birthdays.  My boyfriends and my birthday are 20 days apart in Oct.  So it’s a month of celebration!

Halloween!  I’m about a week away from starting to decorate for it.  It’s going to get crazy in here. Bonus: Less dusting so the real cobwebs can give an authentic touch lol.

Perhaps my most favorite holiday that happens in the fall is Thanksgiving. There is no need for gift or any fussing over anyone in particular.  It’s the one time you can enjoy sitting down and sharing a meal with your family, or families if your lucky to get to go to a few houses that day. All you have to worry about is wearing the most comfortable pair of pants and what left overs to bring home!

So what is your favorite thing about fall?  Or what season do you like better and why?

Lip Obsession: Urban Decays Revolutionary Lipstick

5 Sep

lips 001

I never have been a lipstick girl.  I would tolerate lip gloss for awhile.  That was until Urban Decay came out with their Revolutionary lipstick line that promises to look like a lipstick but not feel like a lipstick. It’s suppose to moisturize and not dry out your lips like some do, as well as stick (ha!) around longer than others. So if you have been wondering about them, don’t wonder any longer, go and buy one now! Or several.

The first one I bought was Venom, I decided to go for a semi bold rich plum color and was impressed immediately, which led me to buy to more. Then when my Birchbox came in I received a mini trail color.  I have to say these are the most vibrant colors, even the paler one shave an amazing sheen and is still noticeable.  As for the moisturizing part, my lips have some dry patches on them sometimes (gross I know) so that aside, it didn’t dry out my lips anymore, nor did it show the dry parts.  I’m convinced that I will own every color in this line.  They retail at $22, while pricey, I find them worth it.

On to the colors!

lips 003 lips 00720130826_070152_resized

This was the first color I bought and hooked me, the plum is more luscious in person!

lips 008lips 009

I couldn’t get a great picture of this on, but it has a lovely sheen to it and just enough orangish color for a pop of color

lips 010 lips 01120130828_070117_resized

Rapture is a lovely dusty rose color that is great for any makeup pairing

I didn’t think I would take so well to this bright pink, but it has become my favorite of all them.

Have any of you all tried this? What is you favorite lipstick?
